Flat File Friday, Abstract paintings, color creating composition.

Pattern and Abstract paintings have been my main concentration this week. Works on 9”x12” hotpress, watercolor paper, compositions with a hand drawn, brushwork border as shown in painting below. Rose and blue notes with a wash softening the overall layout. Using watermarks or staining, juxtapositions of color, and leaving some brushwork which may act as a focal point, all potentially pleasing effects. For the eye to travel around the painting without interruption of the bad kind, is the desired effect.

With works on paper and ideal, quick dry time of acrylics, I often employ a transfer technique, whereby blotting out excess paint or water with a new sheet of paper or painting in progress. This creates a new work or adds to an existing painting. The transfer technique also encourages a “series” of work as the mirror image created, makes a related work. This is the extent of my printmaking process to date. It can be chance or a little more strategic depending on how it is utilized

I am recovering well from a mild back issue, on day four of icing. Paying close attention to my posture and positive thinking while remembering what delicate flowers we are.
