I find myself alone in my thoughts, not always good place. I’ve managed to turn it around but it was bumpy. It all started with Helen Frankenthaler’s birthday which is today. I like her work, not the images of her sitting on the floor on her paintings like a world around her. Photographers would never have posed a man sitting on his work. Maybe she liked the idea. Maybe someday I will look into it. She was a fine painter, and made some Monumental works. Rich and good looking always helps or at least makes a lousy career comfortable in this unforgiving world. Does that sound bitter, who cares. Her approach of paint on un-primed canvas did not help her work in the long term or even her lifetime. Some already look old and dirty. It was an unfortunate decision for an outcome that she could have achieved in other more stable ways, I feel. I mean wtf do I know but there it is. We’ll let rich collectors and museum archivists worry about that. In the meantime this one is pretty and Happy Birthday Helen!
